Lok Rang 2016

The Hindi Department of DPS R.K.Puram hosted its annual Hindi fest, ‘Lok Rang’ on 24th December 2016. The event celebrated the cultural diversity of the nation and provided a platform for students to showcase their multifarious talents. Students from 14 schools participated in the competitions.

The day commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Shri Divik Ramesh. The Head of the Hindi Department, Mrs Jyoti Bakshi introduced Shri Divik Ramesh. Mr Divik is a recipient of many awards including the Soviet Land Nehru Award. He was felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. This was followed by the felicitation of the judges, Producer and Director, Shri Daljeet; the first female ‘dastango’, Ms.Fouzia; Dr. Kusum Viyogi, eminent poet and founder of the Dalit Lekhak Sangh; Poetess, Ms.Nisha Bhargava; writer, Ms.Savita Chadha and Mr.Anurag Das Mathur from the Jazba Theatre Group.

The Chief Guest, Shri Divik Ramesh in his address to the students emphasized on the importance of literature and a good education, and above all on being a good human being. He read out poems written by the students of the school to exemplify the beauty of folk language.

The Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal, addressed the gathering and emphasized on the importance of participation in such programmes and how it is a great learning opportunity, a chance to know our cultural tradition and its diversity. She applauded the coordinator of the programme, Mrs. Fatma Kirmani for the excellent concept and structure of the programme . A cultural show that consisted of a folk song, skit, and dance was put up by the students of DPS R.K.Puram.

The competitions held included ‘Lok Natya Manch’, which required the participants to enact skits depicting folk tales; ‘Lok Manch’, in which participants were required to recite poems on given topics; and ‘Lok Sampada’, in which students presented musical performances on the various festivals of India. Online poetry and story writing were also there.

The Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal gave the awards with Mr Daljeet and Mrs Savita Chadha to the winners The first position in Lok Natya Manch was bagged by DPS Rohini, the second by DPS Vasant Kunj, while the third went to DPS Mathura Road. In Lok Manch, ‘Bharat Ki Sanskritik Dharohar’, Bluebells School International came first, followed by DPS Rohini and DPS Dwarka; in ‘Samay Ki Pukar’, DPS Noida, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, and Modern School, Vasant Vihar bagged the first, second, and third positions respectively. The results for the three sub-events in Lok Sampada, the musical part of the festival, the winner was DPS Noida and the runner up DPS Rohini. DPS Vasant Kunj came third.

In the overall tally, DPS Noida secured the second position and DPS Rohini took home the winning trophy. The Vice Principal, Ms Anita Singh, delivered the vote of thanks.
