A 10 member delegation from Kawada Elementary School, Nagano, Japan visited DPS R.K.Puram on 24th January 2011 as part of the eighth year of the exchange program. The delegation comprised of 8 students and 2 teachers: Mr. Isac Miyazawa; and Mr. Atsushi Wada, Vice Principal, Kawada Elementary school.
The visit to DPS R.K.Puram began with a cultural programme in the Audio Visual Hall. Mr. Masahiro Nagira, from the Japanese Embassy in India , Japan Information Center; Ms Junko Yamanoi, Assistant Director of the Japan Foundation; Mrs Saka and Mrs. Asaka, members of the Japanese Women’s Association; Mr Iwao Sawada, Principal of the New Delhi Japanese School; and Mrs. Yamashita, Head of Cultural Affairs, Japanese Women’s Association, were among the dignitaries who were present. The students of the host school performed various dances and songs highlighting their rich cultural heritage followed by the Japanese students who also gave an excellent presentation. The delegation was then taken on a tour of the school campus, and provided with a glimpse of the various teaching techniques followed by the school.
The delegation earlier visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on January 23 after which they were taken to various tourist attractions in and around Delhi among which were Gandhi Smriti, India Gate, Humanyun’s Tomb and the Qutab Minar. The group will embark on their journey back to Japan on the 27th of January.
