Investiture Ceremony 2014

Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram had its Investiture ceremony on 5 September 2014. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr.V.K.Shunglu, the Chairman of the DPS Society. The event commenced with the inaugural lighting of the lamp by the esteemed Chief Guest, who was warmly welcomed by the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini and the Headmistresses, Ms.Vanita Sehgal and Mrs Anita Singh. This was followed by a scintillating performance by the school orchestra.

The Chairman administered the oath of allegiance whereby the newly appointed duty holders promised to discharge their responsibilities with honesty and sincerity and to take the school to greater heights of glory. The appointees spoke about the school and what it meant to them. The outstanding achievers of the school, those with 100% score in various subjects in the Class XII CBSE Examination 2014, were felicitated. The efforts of the various JSTSE and NTSE scholars and other students winning laurels were also applauded. The cultural programme commenced with a dance performance followed by a fusion of Indian classical dances. The students of DPS Shiksha Kendra enthralled the audience with a dance about the importance of education.

The Chief Guest, Mr. V.K. Shunglu addressed the audience highlighting the pivotal role of teachers in the education system. He congratulated the Headmistress of middle school, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, Head of Business Studies department, who have been bestowed with the prestigious Rajya Shikshak Puraskar by the Delhi Government. These awards are instituted for expertise in teaching and involvement in extracurricular activities. The DPS Society felicitated other teachers for their valuable contribution to the school.

The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini launched a book, ‘Baolis of Delhi’ by Aditya Mehta, a student of class twelve. ‘Baolis of Delhi’ is a research on stepwells and water’s importance in India. Aditya is also the President of Frameworks, the Architecture Club of the school. This was followed by melodious performances by the Indian and Western choirs. The headmistress, Mrs. Anita Singh delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
