The Interact Club of DPS R.K.Puram organized an Interact Club Symposium on 25 July 2013 on the topic ‘Anti – bullying -Bullies non-grata’. Nine schools participated in various activities including Artistic discovery, Skit, Rhythms and On reel. The Principal, Dr.D.R.Saini welcomed all the guests. Also present were the Vice Principal, Mrs.Shobha Mehta and Mrs. Renu Panwar, In charge of the Interact club and the coordinator of the event.
‘Artistic discovery’ included the making of posters on the topic of Anti bullying and was judged by Mrs. Seema Sethi , a scholar guide at the National Museum of Art and Mr. Dilip Bhattacharya, Head of Department of Art at Kulachi Hansraj Modern School . In the Skit competition, students put up humorous and moving performances. It was judged by Mrs.Palak Bhutani, Senior artist with the Ashmita Theatre group, and Mr. Sparsh Rana, a budding theatre artist.
‘Rhythms’ included solo and group performances and was judged by Mr. Ranjit Ahuja, Director of Passion Music and Dance company, also a recording artist, and Mr. Andrewseu, a well known western musical vocalist and recording artist. ‘On Reel ‘featured short films, either animated or documentary. It was judged by Dr. R.G. Verma, a passionate film writer and a theatre actor, and Mr. Ranjan Mallik, Manager of Arena Animation.
The valedictory programme began with a warm welcome by the Principal to the chief guest, Rotarian Prashant Sehgal, District Chairman(’13-’14), Director of Youth Services Rotary Club New Delhi, and Mr. Bansal. Mr. Bansal is a district governor nominee in the Rotary club. A report of the activities of the club in 2012-2013 was read out by the President of the Interact club. A group dance and a band performance by the junior band of DPS RK Puram followed. Mr. Bansal addressed the audience and talked about the meaning of interact, and highlighted the upcoming events which students could take part in, including a conference in Sidney later this year and ended on the note that “we need to be the change.” Ananya Panwar, a student of Birla Vidya Niketan who went through the torment of bullies as she grew up, shared her experiences with the audience, giving strength and support to all.
In ‘On Reel’ the first prize was won by Gyan Bharti School, for providing a positive solution to counter bullying, the first runners up were DPS R.K.Puram, followed by DPS Mathura Road. The first prize in ‘Rhythms’ was bagged by The Air Force School, the first runners up was Birla Vidya Niketan, with The Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute coming a close second. In Artistic Discovery, the first prize was won by DPS R.K.Puram , for its meaningful poster, but they passed on the prize to the first runners up, Amity, Saket. The second runners up were Birla Vidya Niketan.
The skit was won by the excellent actors of DPS R.K.Puram, but the trophy was passed on to Gyan Bharti School, the first runners up. The second runners up was DPS Dwarka. The Rolling Trophy was won by DPS R.K.Puram, but being the host school, it was passed on to Gyan Bharti School. In the vote of thanks the Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta thanked the participating schools for making the event a roaring success.
