The Social Science Department of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the Second Annual India Quiz on the 3 February 2018. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 19 schools across the city.
The Quiz comprised of two rounds. The preliminary written round was followed by the oral round. The quiz comprised of seven rounds relating to the history of India, politics, administration, general knowledge and lastly, an interactive audio/visual segment. The quizzers were provided with two lifelines; ‘Phone-A-Friend’ and ‘Ask A Teacher’. The audience wholeheartedly participated in the proceedings and encouraged the participants with rounds of applause.
The Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal, expressed her gratitude to all the schools for their keen participation. Addressing the students, she spoke of her love for history, christening it her favourite subject and emphasized the importance of humanities. She vocalized her fondness for the concept of quizzing and deemed them informative and exciting. She lauded the audience for their active participation in the event.
Ms Vanita Sehgal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, Ms Vinita Gupta and Ms Shaloo Khanna conducted the award ceremony. Delhi Public School, Faridabad was the winner of the Quiz. Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj came second while Cambridge School, Noida bagged the third position.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Vice Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan. She thanked the Programme coordinators, Ms Vandana Chandhoke and Ms Rupa Das and the entire Social Science Department for making this event a grand success. Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram plans to make the India Quiz an annual event. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
