29th April 2011 – Western Music Competition – Hat trick
On the crack of dawn on 29th April, Students woke up as they always do in the morning. But this wasn’t any other morning. It was the day that when 9th std Western choir, and 10th std Band went to GD Goenka Vasant Kunj for the culminating day of “Goenkan Grandeur” for singing our group song, “Lion Sleeps Tonight.”, Duet “ Another time another place” and Band song “ Burn”
They did not participate as Class nine’s singers, but as the singers of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram to prove that they are the best! Leaving from the school in the morning, most students had a strong feeling that when they would walk back through those gates sometime in the afternoon, they would be holding the Rolling Trophy after showing the city that were indeed, the best. And that’s what it turned out to be.
After seeing the senior singers of schools like Modern and DPS Vasant Kunj, A war of nervousness, anticipation and excitement was going inside the minds of Students. After Sanskriti was done with their performance, DPS R.K. Puram had the stage for 20 minutes. They knew that these 20 minutes, if performed well, which they would be, would make them feel like the proudest singers in the auditorium. Students performed and then went for refreshments came back and eagerly waited for the results.
In the end the wait was over.
We Won The Goenka Grandeur It was our hat trick yet again. The happiest person of all was Mr. Rajesh Upadhyay as his students gave him his well deserving anniversary gift.
