Exun-2014 Activities (Day-2)
Exun Clan, the computer club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram in collaboration with the photography club, Digex, short for ‘Digital Excellence’, hosted its 19th Inter-School IT Symposium, EXUN 2014, sponsored by Intel, T.I.M.E and Compton Computers (P) Limited, on the 22nd and the 23rd November, 2014. Exun, short for ‘Experts Unlimited’, is one of the oldest and the most reputed computer clubs in Delhi and NCR, formed in the year 1992 by the head of the computer science department, Mr. Mukesh Kumar and a small group of computer enthusiasts. This year around 50 schools from Delhi/NCR participated in the 17 events organised by the club.
The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini, was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. Also present at the occasion were the Head of the Computer Science department, Mr. Mukesh Kumar and all the teachers of the computer science department. The panel of judges included Mr. Neeraj Priyadarshan, National Photo Editor, Indian Express; Mr Sohail from Intel; Dr. Pushpinder Singh, Senior Doctor from DPS R.K. Puram; Raghav Khullar, Bharat Aggarwal, Pushkar Mishra, Ambar Pal, Aishwarya Kane, Adideva Sekhri, Souvik Das Gupta, Aarman Roy, Pranav Butalia and Gyan Lakhwani, alumni from DPS R.K. Puram and Sahil Guleria, Coordinator, EXUN.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini addressed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to all the guests. He spoke about the importance of teamwork in our lives and how we can all learn from each other. A short Exun video was presented highlighting the growth of the club through the years, which received a huge round of applause by the audience. The first day consisted of 9 events including Group Discussion, programming, creative event, Ideathon, Gaming, Digex photo run and the preliminary rounds of the Junior quiz, Senior quiz and the crossword. The second day included events like 3D modelling, A/V editing, Swat the Bug, Gaming finals, junior and Senior quiz finals, Crossword Finals and two surprise events. The second day of the EXUN symposium included mind boggling competitions like the Junior and Senior Quiz finals, Crossword finals; Swat the bug; A/V Editing, 3D modelling, Gaming finals and two surprise events.
Sudocrypt v4.0, the Online International Cryptic hunt was another initiative by Exun that witnessed participation by over 900 students from over 10 countries.
In the closing ceremony, Dr Pushpinder Singh, along with other judges received mementos from Dr. Saini, which was followed by the much awaited result and prize distribution. The programme concluded with a group photograph to cherish this memorable day.
