OPENING CEREMONY

The opening ceremony started with the felicitation of the Guests of Honour and Business Plan Judges – Mr Bijoy Kumar Majhi, Founder, Angels in my Kitchen and Ms Varija Bajaj, Owner, Varija Design Studio, followed by Ganesh Vandana presented by Diya Singhal, of Class V11.

In her welcome address, Ms.Vanita Sehgal, welcomed the Guests of Honour. She then spoke of the will and determination of the new generation of entrepreneurs and how they are constantly striving to achieve their goals; how entrepreneurship was not a viable career option in her times and how, in today’s time, it has evolved into one of the most chosen career options. She also mentioned how the Entrepreneurship Club started with just two students who were passionate about entrepreneurship and how they convinced her of the need for a platform for the same despite having other commerce related clubs.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Bijoy Kumar Majhi, emphasised the changes in the field of entrepreneurship in India over the last few years, and how the key to success for a start-up is now dependant on the satisfaction of a need. He explained how the first few years of becoming an entrepreneur and starting one’s own venture can be the most challenging and difficult years of one’s life but it all pays off in the long run. He then shared the story of how he started out with his company in just one location and is now the proud owner of twelve outlets across Delhi NCR with a new one underway. He strives to achieve a nation-wide presence in the future.

Ms Varija Bajaj, the Guest of Honour, narrated the personal story of her road to success. She was a science student and was preparing to become a doctor but she realised that she couldn’t excel in a field she wasn’t passionate about. She was creatively inclined and wanted to do something in designing. She then described her journey from acing NIFT, starting her own venture and expanding her company into other fields. She further accentuated on how entrepreneurship does not have a basic set of rules; rather, it is the brainchild of the entrepreneur and it is all about how they deal with the various challenges life throws at them.

This was followed by a movie on Enship 2018 and thereafter the participants started to disperse to their respective event venues.
