‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ Programme

As a part of MHRD’s ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ Programme, the partner states allotted to Delhi were Sikkim and Assam. DPS R K Puram celebrated Sikkim Week (November 27- December 1, 2017) and Assam Week (May 07- May11, 2018) to showcase the special features of these states.

The Geography Department organised various activities showcasing Architecture, Sculpture, Culinary practices, Music , Dance  and different cultures of Sikkim and Assam during the weeks for different classes.

SIKKIM WEEK (NOVEMBER 27- DECEMBER 1, 2017)

Class VI, VII &VIII : Students actively participated in ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat ‘ programme.  Posters highlighting the tourism, socio-cultural aspects of Sikkim were displayed for the event through posters, PPT etc.

Class IX: Culinary practices of Sikkim were depicted through boards and culinary competitions. The event was organised on  December 1, 2017 in the Assembly ground of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram.

Class IX H held a quiz in Sanskrit on the same theme. It was an interesting and informative class activity.

Class X: A Quiz for Class X students on ‘Sikkim’ was held on 29 November 2017. It not only challenged the students’ intellectual abilities, but also their knowledge and presence of mind on different aspects of Sikkim . The competition was interesting, engrossing, and above all, it helped the children to get to know the state of Sikkim in greater depth.

ASSAM WEEK (MAY 07- MAY11, 2018)

The MHRD’s ‘ Ek Bharat Sreshth Bharat’ Assam week celebration was held on 10 May , 2018.

Class VI: Students showcased the different types of houses, flora & fauna through posters depicting Assam’s culture in very interesting way with bio degradable waste materials. They enjoyed a lot and also gained knowledge of Assam’s culture. The posters were displayed and the winners elaborated their themes.

Class VII: The Fancy dress competition on Assam was held on 9 May 2018. It not only challenged the students’ knowledge, but also their presence of mind of how to portray the characters to perfection. The students performed characters from great personalities to Assam’s very own traditional dance, Bihu.

The competition was interesting, engrossing, and most of all, it helped the children to get to know the north-eastern state of ASSAM in greater depth.

Class VIII: Inter section collage making competition was held on 8 May 2018 in order to celebrate ‘Assam week’ in school. The students of Class 8 beautifully depicted the culture , heritage and physiographic features of Assam through collage making. The topic was ‘Amazing  Assam’.
