25.04.16.

An earthquake mock drill was conducted at DPS R.K.Puram, Delhi on 25th April’2016 at 11:02 A.M. It was organised in the school premises involving 3525 students with the help of 181 teachers, 30 staff members and 15 security guards under the guidance of the school Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal.

The drill was carried out in a systematic manner. With the ringing of the first bell (11:02 A.M.) , the students dropped down to their knees on the floor in order to maintain their balance ( Drop ), under a sturdy table ( Cover ). In the next step they held on to the table to protect their head and neck until the earth stopped shaking (Again bell was rung ). On the ringing of the second bell, they evacuated to their designated open assembly point as per the colour coded evacuation plan. After the exercise, they went back to their classes as per the announcement.

The guidelines provided by the DOE were strictly followed. Some areas of improvement have been identified after the debriefing session which would be considered for the next mock drill.

Overall it was a well executed drill coordinated by Disaster Management coordinator , Ms. Rupa Das along with all the team Incharges and their members and all other staff members of the school.
