Dynamics ’17

The Western Music Society of DPS R.K. Puram organised for the very first time, its annual music fest, ‘Dynamics’, on 6th May, 2017, in which students of 8 schools from across the city participated. The competition comprised of Solo and Band categories.

The judges were Mr. Pranai Gurung, a keen educator and a marvellous guitar player; Ms. Vasundhara Vee, an international performer and the only top notch Vocal Brand in India for Western Styles of singing; and Mr. Ritesh Khokhar, head of the Bridge Music Academy and one of the finest music educators.

The event began with the felicitation of the judges. The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, then addressed the gathering. She asked everyone to have fun, play with spirit and enjoy other teams’ performances without worrying about the end result. She also encouraged students to keep organising such events on a regular basis.

The opening ceremony included a performance by the school’s choir, followed by a solo and band performance. The participants then amazed the judges and the audience with their brilliant performances.

The students of DPS R.K. Puram presented a solo and duet song, followed by the school’s choir and band, which left everyone in high spirits. The judges guided the participants, giving them tips to improve their skills and wished the participants the best of luck for their future endeavours.

The Shri Ram School bagged the first position in the solo category, while Amity Mayur Vihar and DPS Vasant Kunj came second and third respectively. In the band category, St. Columbus School came first, while Amity International, Saket and DPS Noida were the first and second runners-up respectively. In the individual category, the best keyboard player went to Amity International, Mayur Vihar. DPS Noida and DPS Vasant Kunj were awarded as the best guitarists. Amity Saket and St. Columbus shared the title of the best drummer. Amity Pushp Vihar was adjudged as the best bassist while St. Columbus was given the prize for the best vocalist. The best accompanist went to The Shri Ram School. Amity International School, Mayur Vihar, was honoured with the Rolling Trophy for their outstanding performance in all the categories.

The Vice Principal, Ms. Anita Singh, delivered the vote of thanks. She congratulated everyone for their active participation in the event and opined that winning or losing doesn’t matter, as participating in any event is winning by itself. She expressed her gratitude to the music department, the judges and the event coordinators for making Dynamics’17 a success.
