Students of DPS RK Puram participated in the 15th Annual Public Health Days International School Conference in Canada in November 2011
Ten students from DPS RK Puram- Shivang Sethi, Akshay Gugnani,Aishwarya Mehra,Anusha Arora,Apoorva Gupta,Madala Sachitanand ,Mohita Suyal,Ridhima Gugnani,Daksh Pandit and Naman Sharma along with a teacher, Ms Jyoti Sharma visited Canada to participate in the International School Conference on ‘New Understandings, Better Integration, Sustainable and Equitable Actions-Health Promoting Schools’, at Montreal on November 28-29,2011. Organized by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, JASP and Canadian Association for School Health, the conference aimed at bringing together all decision makers and schools to work towards promoting education, health and well being of youth especially in schools.
Students from DPS RK Puram presented a poster on ‘Youth led health promotion campaigns: experiences from India’, and addressed the Conference on ‘Empowering youth and promoting health in schools’. Inspired by the Principal of DPS RK Puram,
Dr. D. R Saini, who leads by example and motivates students to lead a healthy life by balancing academics with physical activity and sports, the students interacted effectively with the audience and shared their experiments.
DPS students also interacted with other students from high schools in Canada on various health-related issues such as obesity, tobacco control, and physical activity among others. After the conference, the students took a tour of the University of Toronto and interacted with members of the faculty.
