Delhi Public School, R K Puram and Bio-Rad, an US based Life Sciences Company launched a fun filled learning program-“Bio-Rad’s Science Ambassador Program” on August 8,2018. Biology students of Class XII attended this program.
During the two hours program, the students and teachers were engaged in fun filled and team building activities that allowed each one of them to unleash themselves and be expressive. There was a lot of excitement to extract DNA from the cheek cells. Students made DNA necklace. It was a great feeling for all them to see their DNA for the first time.
Biorad’s Country Head, Mr Bijender Kumar was also present. Presentation on ‘Look closer at Biotechnology’ was made by Mr Vipan Minhas. Later Dr Nitin Ghosal spoke about importance of HbA1c in diabetes diagnosis and Thalassemia.
The students worked in groups and the group with best DNA extraction won a box of chocolates. Ice-cream challenge was also arranged. Tree plantation was organised in the school campus and the students were awarded certificates by Bio-Rad Company.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Niva Chhonkar, Head of Biology Department. It was an amazing workshop and a learning experience thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The programme was coordinated by Ms KajaL Sethi, Biology Teacher.
