23 December 2015 was a very special day for the students of DPS R.K.Puram and Modern Indian School, Doha, Qatar as they interacted on various issues related to biodiversity conservation in the presence of the Principal, Dr. D.R.Saini; Head Mistress, Ms. Anita Singh; Head of Computer Science, Mr Mukesh Kumar; Ms Niva Chhonkar, Head of Biotechnology; Ms Dimple Menon, Biology Teacher from DPS R.K.Puram and Principal, Ms.AsnaNafees; Vice Principal, Ms.G.Mala; Ms.Sanghamitra, Biology Teacher from MIS, Doha, Qatar.
The enthusiastic students discussed various issues related to environment and biodiversity like waste management, common plants and animals found in the two countries,green steps taken by students in the school and at home, practising the 4 R’s, Swaach Bharat Campaign, odd-even number concept of cars ,steps taken by the government to curb air pollution, the role of social media in creating awareness in the society etc. The students of MIS were also eager to know as to how India’s growing population could be used to control the problem of pollution.
The Principal, Dr.D.R.Saini, invited the Qatar school to visit India so that both schools could learn from each other and share the best practices. He thanked the Qatar school for participating in the Environment Festival ‘Panchtatva’ hosted by DPS R.K.Puram on 20 November 2015.Ms Anita Singh asked a question on the type of food available in the school canteen.
The webinar session ended with a goodbye and a promise to meet soon. The programme was coordinated by Mr.Mukesh Kumar and Ms Niva Chhonkar.
