DIGEX 2017

Digex, the photography and movie making club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, organized its third Annual Photography Fest on 13 May, 2017, with the aim to foster a learning environment and showcase creative talents from across Delhi and NCR. 93 schools participated in the various competitions and workshops that were held. Canon sponsored the event. Canon representatives played the role of mentors, judges and managing members.

The day commenced with lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, begun the opening ceremony by addressing the gathering, saying that photography these days is in full swing, and added, ‘There is magic in the hands of the holder.’ She thanked Ms. Sarika Kaushal, the teacher in charge of the club, and all the other faculty members who helped organize the event, and welcomed all participants to the school.

A short video on the work and achievements of Digex was shown, which was followed by a mime by the Expressions Theatre Club that depicted the prevalence of photography in today’s world.

The Chief Guest, Mr Dhiraj Bhagtani, the National Sales Manager –Cinema and PRO Video Products Department, Canon India, emphasized on the importance Canon gives to engaging with students, imparting knowledge, and building experience. He also presented Ms. Vanita Sehgal with a token of thanks for hosting the fest.

Digex 2017 comprised of six categories- ‘mp4’, Online movie making competition, ‘Camtivate’, Story Board competition, ‘Melt the Minute’, Ad-making competition, ‘Through the Scope’ and On-the-spot Photography competition which comprised of senior and junior categories and a ‘Surprise Event’. Workshops were also held for teachers and photography enthusiasts.

The Expressions Theatre Club then engaged the gathering with their vibrant performances. The closing ceremony commenced with a video showing glimpses of the day’s happenings. Ms. Sarika Kaushal delivered the vote of thanks and thanked everyone for the ‘tremendous gathering’ and expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed in making the event a success.

In the category, ‘.mp4’, Tagore International, Vasant Vihar bagged the first position. Cambridge School, Noida and Bal Bharti Gangaram came second and third respectively. DPS Indirapuram came first in ‘Camtivate’ and were followed by The Indian School and Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan. Greenfields School, Safdarjung was the winner of ‘Melt the Minute’. Sanskriti School and Bluebells Model School were the first and second runners up respectively. In the junior category of ‘Through the Scope’, Bluebells School International bagged the first position while DPS Sushant Lok and Hertitage School, Gurgaon came second and third respectively. DPS Noida stood first in the senior category. Bal Bharti Public School and GD Goenka, Gurgaon followed them. DPS Faridabad was the winner for the ‘Surprise Event’. Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj came second while Springdales School, Pusa Road came third.

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar was adjudged as the overall winner for their excellent performance and was awarded the trophy.
