ComAstitva 2018

The Commerce Department of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised its Annual Inter-School Commerce Festival ‘ComAstitva – 2018’  on 6 October, 2018. Students from 24 schools took part in the event, making it a great feat.

The ComAstitva aimed to instil a sense of understanding in the students regarding the functioning of the economy, business, commerce and its industrial activities. The students were encouraged to rack their brains and think outside the box, which further added to the thrill of the competition. The event was coordinated by Ms. Anita Singhal, Ms. Anu Bhandari and Ms. Reena Mehta.

The festival comprised of the  three online events – Admad, ArtCom and The Comical Chronicles, and six on-site events – Imprenditore, Mock-Stock – ‘Subject To Market Risk’, The Bidder, Fin-O-Rama, Tell-a-tale and a Surprise Event.

ONLINE EVENTS

AdMad was an online advertisement designing competition, in which the students had to create an E-Poster on a topic allotted to them with a suitable tagline. The event was judged by Mr. Daksh Aggarwal, an alumnus of DPS R.K. Puram.

ArtCom was an online caricature making competition in which each team was required to sketch a caricature – a picture, description or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect. The artworks were judges on the basis of creativity, presentation, originality and relevance. The event was judges by Mr. Shubham Bansal, an alumnus of DPS R.K. Puram.

The Comic Chronicles was an online economics comic strip creation competition. The topic drew its inspiration from the Bob Dylan song ‘Times they are a-changin’ which was an anthem of the frustrated American youth at the time when it was obvious that change was at hand and no one really knew what that meant, what it would look like or when and where it would happen. The students had to depict the topic with the help of a four panel comic strip to draw attention to current global economic issues using satirical commentary. The task requires them to use humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize vices, particularly in the context of contemporary global economic policies as viewed from the perspective of the Indian common man. The event was judged by Mr. Anant Mehra, Founder of the Fun Design brand, Krita and Penna, and Mr. Diptiman Das, Chairman and Managing Director of EdCIL(India) Limited.
