Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organized the Annual Inter-School Commerce Festival – ‘ComAstitva’, a collaborative effort of the Business Studies, Accounts and Economics departments on 19th November 2016.
ComAstitva was an endeavor aimed at exposing students to the working economic environment of business, commerce and industry, and to provide them with the finest of educational experience. A multitude of innovative and creative competitions were planned to help the students of classes XI and XII to learn, explore and reach beyond their expectations and to emerge as ‘winners’.
The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Anju Srivastava, Principal, Hindu College, University of Delhi. She was joined by the judges for the onsite events, Dr. Rachna Jawa and Dr. Vandana Jain. Mr. Sharad Kohli who was also one of the judges, joined later. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest along with the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, the Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar. Also present were the Heads of Departments along with their teams of teachers – Mrs. Anu Bhandari (Business Studies), Mrs. Anita Singhal (Economics) and Mrs. Reena Mehta (Accountancy).
The programme began with an instrumental performance by the school orchestra which was followed by a floral welcome extended to the chief guest and the other judges. The cultural programme included the Guruvandana saluting the noble gurus, a musical fusion sung melodiously by the school choir and an enthralling dance performance. Addressing the participants, the Principal, Ms. Sehgal stressed on the importance of enjoying the competition in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Chief Guest gave her best wishes to the participants and highlighted the importance of commitment in life.
Students from 15 schools took part in the competitive events, which were divided into online and onsite categories. The Online events were ‘Brand-Logue’ where the participants were asked to design an E-catalogue of a designated company; ‘Ecopix’ where the participants had to submit a self-clicked picture depicting a given topic, and ‘Logo Mania’ where the participants designed the logo of a company.
The onsite events were ‘The Curtain Call’ where the participants performed a skit on a given topic; ‘The Young Entrepreneur’ where the participants were asked to make a presentation about the business strategy of an enterprise, and ‘Eco-Biz Quiz’ where the participants were required to clear the preliminary round to reach the final round of the quiz.
The results were declared after the onsite events concluded, and winning teams (as listed below) of each of the events were felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Sehgal with certificates and trophies during the prize distribution ceremony.
