Biology Students visit Molecular Medicine and the Special Centre for Nano Science at JNU

Jawaharlal Nehru University organized an Open Day on 21 November 2016 to showcase the research facilities available in its institute. The Biology students of Class XI visited the Schools of Molecular Medicine and the Special Centre for Nano Science. There was an Exhibition of models related to different aspects of Nanotechnology, Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Experiments like Agarose electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, Plant Pigments separation, stained slides of rat intestine were also carried out. The Demo of conversion of cotton to rayon fiber was interesting. Students found Turmeric tablets very interesting. Turmeric has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. The Demo of Stealth Technology was also done. The Vice Chancellor of JNU, Mr.Jagdish Kumar motivated the students to ask questions and never to be afraid of failures. The students were accompanied by Ms.Kusum Yadav, Ms.Shalini Chanana, Ms.Kajal Sethi, Ms.Sushma Sardana and Ms Niva Chhonkar of the Department of Biology.
