Biology Students Attend ‘Catalyst’ at AIIMS

All India Institute of Medical Sciences organised their annual two-day event, CATALYST 2017 – An Initiative by Parivartan, for school students on April 27th and 28th, 2017. The programme was attended by Class XII Biology students accompanied by Ms Kusum Yadav, Ms Kajal Sethi and Ms Niva Chhonkar. In the expo, the students observed causative agents of Malaria, sections of spinal cord, common plant origin allergens like dhatura, castor, specimens of tapeworm and roundworm. Medical students at AIIMS also explained how the poison from snake affects the human body. Students observed cultures of Aspergillus and Penicillium.

The most exciting part of the Expo was the display of human organs like liver, spleen, heart, eyes, intestines and brain. Children could easily make out the impact of smoking on lungs, evident from the samples. Students interacted with the medical students and were motivated with the event ‘Toppers Talk’.
