Class X-C, under the able guidance of their class teacher, Ms. Nisha Gupta, presented a morning assembly on July 10, 2014 in the Audio-Visual Hall of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. The theme of the assembly was ‘Bharat ki Lok Sanskriti’ (Folk Culture of India). The assembly began with an invocation bhajan by the talented Hindi choir of the class. The computer whiz kids of the class showed the assembly a powerpoint presentation highlighting the various folk dances, songs, food and other aspects of our culture. The assembly was marked by vibrant song and dance sequences on the festivals Teej and Holi respectively. The play based on a Tenaliraman tale brought in humour and stole the hearts of the audience. The essence of Indian folk culture was brought out through the enactment of a scene depicting the gaiety that is so typical of any Indian festival or function. The tribal dance put up by a few boys was well appreciated. An interesting folk tale was narrated by three girls. An appropriate thought for the day and a lively compering by a ‘Nat and Nati’ exposed the students to our rich Indian Culture.
The assembly was highly appreciated by the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini who said that it was a brilliant depiction of our ‘Sanskriti’. The Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, congratulated the students on their resplendent costumes and enthusiastic performances.
