Interactive Session On Cyber Security

Delhi Public School R. K. Puram, conducted an interactive session  on CYBER CRIME  on February 20, 2020 at the AVH. The students of Classes VI- VIII were the audience for this enlightening session which was presided over by Mr. Anuj Agarwal, Cyberexpert, the Trainer for the Police Force under the Cyber Cell. This session was  a part of DELHI POLICE WEEK (16.02.20-22.02.20). As the crime related to the internet is growing day by day, the Delhi Police took the initiative to make the youngsters aware of the cyber security system. Mr. Agarwal spoke about maintaining certain rules and regulations while using social media, like not disclosing financial and social status while making friends with anyone on social media. He also specified that morphing others photographs, sending malicious emails or mocking someone on social media are punishable crimes and the Police can actually trace the people who create fake ID’s and indulge in such crimes.  The workshop proceeded further by telling the students that if anyone finds one in trouble they should never keep quiet, rather should reach the Police and speak to the elders about it. Mr. Agarwal warned the students to be extra vigilant while making friends on social media.  The workshop ended with a question answer session where the children cleared their doubts and Mr.Agarwal cheerful answered their questions. Ms Niva Chhonkar , Headmistress, proposed the vote of thanks.

Visit Of Class V Students

The students of class V from Delhi Public School, East of Kailash and Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar visited the school campus at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on 13 and 14 February 2020.

The students arrived at the R.K. Puram campus and were taken to the AVH where the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal, conducted the morning prayer. In her address to the students, she welcomed them to the school and explained that the purpose of their visit was to acquaint them with the campus that they would  be joining in the new academic session of 2020-21. She further touched upon the school rules as well as the activities which will be offered to the students as a part of their Work Experience, Art Education, Sports and Physical Education. She introduced the students to the Headmistress VI-VIII, Ms Niva Chhonkar, and the Class VI  Reps, Ms Pratibha Sacher and Ms Vaishali Tiwari.    

The Headmistress also addressed the students and told them about the schedule of the visit. The tour commenced with sections A, B and C being led around the school campus by the teachers of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram and accompanied by the junior school teachers. Meanwhile sections D, E and F began the tour with a visit to the Sports Complex. The students were shown all the facilities at the Sports Complex such as the swimming pools, the gymnasium  and more. They visited the Mathematics Lab, Robotics Lab and ThinkLab, along with the music basement, junior and senior libraries and the various blocks of the school campus. Students were given refreshments in the OAT. 

The students of class V were excited throughout the tour. They enjoyed the visit immensely and showed keen interest in  joining the new campus in the coming academic session. 

Toyota Hackathon 2019

Winners AAINA 2020

The Students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi public school R.K Puram participated in ‘AAINA 2020’ organised by St. Xavier’s Sr. Sec. School on 23rd January 2020.The students performed an impactful Street play on the topic –‘SOCH Nazariya nahi ek naquab’ and secured the Third position. Anamika Singh of XI-X received the Best Actor award.

Cambridge Soliloquy Villians Of The Bard

Yashna Rustagi (XI-E) of the Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram participated in ‘Villains of the Bard’, an enactment of Shakespeare’s dramatic monologue at ‘Image 2019: Sanrakshan’ organised by Cambridge school-Noida  on 29th November 2019.She played the role of Iago from the play Othello and secured the First position.

International Finance And Global Economics Olympiad 2020

Delhi Public School, R K Puram lifted the 2nd Runners up trophy of  ‘International Finance Olympiad’ and ‘Global Economics Olympiad 2020’. Neasha Mittal of X E, Bhavya Lakhina of 10H, Aaditya Gupta of 11P and Japneesh Singh of 12N were awarded a cash prize of Rs twenty thousand as a team on 25th January 2020.

Hostel Farewell 2019-20

The Hostel Farewell for the class XII of 2020 was held on 30 January. Both the Girls’ and Boys’ Hostels organised the event. Interactive sessions and games were organised for the students.A skit, soulful songs, mesmerising dances and poetry recitals evoked laughter and feelings of nostalgia in the audience. It was a night filled with tearful goodbyes and blossoming hope for the new beginnings.The Principal and the staff wished the boarders luck and success in all future endeavours.

Value For The Month Of January

“Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success.” Keeping this view in mind the class boards of classes VI-VIII were decorated on the topic- ‘Steps to Success.’ With examination lurking at the corner, students are getting prepared for their final examination, the class boards provide motivation and inspiration to move forward and be successful in their honest endeavours. The students have beautifully displayed the steps that must be taken by students to jump to success. The motivational quotes and the images made by them show their keenness and desire to reach the top.

Our Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 Awardees

Sagnik Anupam and Tanish Goel of DPS RK Puram have been awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 .As a part of the  award, they have  received a certificate, a citation, a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000, and a tablet. They  received the award from the Honourable President of India at a ceremony at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on 22 January 2020. They were  also felicitated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, and interacted with the Honorable Minister of Women and Child Development. They were  also a part of the Republic Day parade on 26 January 2020 in New Delhi.

Sagnik Anupam has got the award for developing a machine-learning model that can predict water levels up to four days in advance for the Brahmani-Baitarani river basin in Odisha. For his project, he used rainfall and river discharge data from the past 40 years to train his model to predict water levels and created a cloud-computing based web app to run simulations. Combining data from satellite images and other sources, he has developed a sub-district level flood vulnerability index to help early evacuation. His early-warning system is highly generalizable and can also be used on other river systems to help flood-prone areas around the world. Recognizing his contributions to science, he has been selected as a member of the Junior Academy of the highly-acclaimed New York Academy of Sciences. Sagnik has also won laurels for India at many different international and national competitions. He was a part of the contingent for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2018, held at Pittsburgh, USA. As a part of a team, he has also won a First Award in the Grade 11 Large Team category of the NASA Ames Space Settlement Design Contest 2018 and was a finalist at the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2017, held at Orlando, USA. He was also a member of India’s first team to compete at the International Youth Physicists’ Tournament, held in Beijing, China, in 2018

Tanish was awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar in the category of innovation .He  was recognized for creating a machine learning algorithm which autonomously detected emotions based on facial expressions and speech with a team of college students in a research internship (The only high school student out of 350 college students); for winning the NASA Goddard award at the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge, with a team of 3 . He  became a junior member at the New York Academy of Sciences, where  he worked on a Lunar Space Settlement project with a global team (6 members from 4 countries and 5 cities).

We wish both Anupam and Tanish the best in all future endeavours and may they scale even greater heights in the years to come.

District Level Toppers -Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform(KAMP)

Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform(KAMP)– an initiative of CSIR- National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), intended to identify and capture Scientific and Technological temperament in students . NASTA Exam was conducted on January 27,2020 and January 28, 2020 .

 

134 students from our school of grade 5th to 10th, appeared  for  NATIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR SCIENTIFIC TEMPERAMENT AND APTITUDE “NASTA”. The subjects included Science, EVS /Social Science, Mathematics, Digital Literacy/IT. In this exam 6 students secured District Ranks and 22 students got an  A+ Grade.

Farewell Ceremony XII (2019-20)

“Let the new adventures begin.” – Unknown

On the 31st of January, 2020, D.P.S. R.K.Puram hosted the farewell ceremony for the Class of 2019-20. This event was to bid adieu to the senior-most students of the school, as they gathered in the school in their marvellous attires ,gorgeous saris and debonair suits and hearts full of nostalgic memories.

The seniors indulged in spirited conversations with the eleventh graders while many captured this day through their lenses, posing in front of an enormous “I LOVE DPS” structure. The brightly arranged affair was further enhanced by angelic voices of the singers who sang some of the most well-known songs on companionship. The grand event concluded with the teachers wishing the twelfth graders the best of luck for their future endeavours.
