CBSE Capacity Building Programme On Value Education

Delhi Public School,R.K Puram held a Capacity Building Programme on Value Education on 31 August 2019  for the teaching Staff of the Primary,Middle,Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. A total of sixty teachers attended the day long workshop  from 9.00am to 4.30 pm.

The programme started with the felicitation of  Dr. Alka Saxena ,the CBSE Resource Person,by the Principal Ms. Vanita Sehgal.In her address ,the Principal underlined the fact that values are intrinsic to ones personality and they reflect in interpersonal skills and day to day conduct of ones life.She also emphasised on the fact that teachers have to lead the way by reflecting the core values of honesty,truthfulness,patience,love in our daily Classroom Transactions as well as outside the class.

The day long workshop was divided into pre lunch and post lunch sessions which were accompanied by activities and discussion of real classroom situations and how to deal with them in an effective manner.The role play put by the different groups showcased the importance of values both at the individual and global levels.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms.Renu Nayar ,Vice Principal,DPS,R.K Puram.


Value for the Month-August 2019

Topic – Courtesy
VIII

The topic of the value for the month of August was Courtesy.  Quotes on the topic were put up on the boards. Class teachers spoke about inculcating the value with the help of gestures, role play, narrating personal experiences etc. Courtesy as a value was taken up by the Work Experience teachers too. Acts such as gratitude, apologising for misadventures, setting the furniture right, helping an injured student to the clinic etcetera, express the small courtesies in school life and public life. Courtesy makes life sweet. The student’s participation in displaying the value of courtesy was praiseworthy.

Class VII

 Class teachers felt committed to display and inculcate this value in the students. Courtesy is rare in the contemporary world but holds much importance in our lives. Teachers nurtured small acts like being apologetic, being thankful, helping an injured student in the field etcetera. Instances were related towards the value; quotes were put up on the boards too to reinforce the value of courtesy. The student’s effort towards displaying this value was praiseworthy.

 Class teachers and subject teachers committed to inculcate this value in the students. Teachers emphasized upon the value of small acts like being apologetic, being thankful, helping an injured student in the sports field. Stories exemplifying the value were shared in the class. Students read and discussed poetry on the topic courtesy. They put up short skits related to the same in their theatre classes as well. Students put up quotations and posters on the boards to reinforce the value of courtesy.



Career Counselling Session For Parents Of Class X

DPS R.K. Puram organized a career counseling session for the parents of class X in two groups. Parents of sections A- G attended the session on 21st and parents of sections H-O on 22nd August from 2.30 to 4.30pm. in the Audio Visual Hall. With a plethora of career options available in the contemporary times, the role of a career counseling session becomes indispensable. The session was conducted by a team of Career Launcher, a recognized brand in the education sector.                                            

Ms.Vanita Sehgal, the principal, addressed the parents. She highlighted the various subject options offered in class XI. She encouraged the parents to guide their wards to pursue their interests and also to work sincerely to achieve their goals. She also clarified the doubts raised by the parents concerning subject options for Class XI. Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, the headmistress, addressed the parents and encouraged them to clarify the doubts regarding the career options and courses regarding the same through the sessions organized.  A power point presentation regarding the subject streams offered by the school was also shown by the reps of class X.                                                                     

The resource person Mr. Anubhav Rakheja conducted the sessions. He emphasized that one must have in-depth knowledge of the choices lest one might end-up in a career that is not made for one. It is common among students going through this transition phase to get influenced by misinformation and end up making the wrong decision. He advised the parents not to base their decisions based on their own perceptions.  Parents were made aware of the different options in profession and courses their wards could pursue based on the subject choices they would make. Queries raised by the parents were addressed by the career launcher team. Both the sessions were immensely enriching and interesting.
