Katha Utsav 2016

A national level Writing workshop, ‘Katha Utsav 2016’ was organised by Katha from the 27th to the 29th January 2016. Angelina Dash of XI W, Prithvi Rana of XI I, Harshita Khatri of XI I, Aditya Pattanayak of XI M, Anurupa Dutta of XI D, Fatima Kashtwari of VIII K and Arunabh Roy of VII E participated in the three day long workshop.

On the first day the students were divided into groups and got to know their mentors; on the last day, the students had to submit an original piece of writing on the theme- ‘Breaking Stereotypes’.

On the second day, after an illustration session in the first half, there was a quiz organised on the Heritage and Culture of India. Three students from each participating school could compete. Twenty schools from all over India participated in this quiz, and DPS RK Puram’s team comprising Angelina Dash, Fatima Kashtwari and Arunabh Roy first qualified the preliminary written round and finally come third after four rounds of quizzing, including rapid fire, picture and anagram based questions, etc.



The International Inner Wheel Nukkad Natak Competition

The students of Expressions Theatre Club bagged the second prize in the Nukkad Natak Competition organised by the International Inner Wheel Club at the Iskcon Temple, New Delhi on the 10th of January, 2017. Mrs. Neena Vasudeva, the President of the Inner wheel Club of Delhi, Greater Kailash, gave the students an opportunity to be part of this programme. They put up a street play on the topic “Child Labour: Bachpan Bachao.” The team comprised of Ishita Agnihotri (XI-N), Dyujoy Majumdar (XI-G), Mohammad Osaid (XI-T), Suvansh Manektala (XI-S), Aryaman Gupta (X-J), Chitra Tewari (X-J) and Akshay Jain (X-L).



Winner of BITS Pilani Debate

Jatin Jha of XI F participated in the Delhi Regionals of ‘Verba Maximus 2017’, the literary fest of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad , on the 5th of January 2017.

Scores of students from the top colleges and schools in and around Delhi competed for the top two places. The event consisted of two rounds of Impromptu Debating. The topics and the side to be supported were assigned by a draw of lots followed by ten minutes of preparation time.

After vanquishing even sophomores of colleges, Jatin Jha was declared the winner of both the rounds. He has won a full paid trip to Hyderabad in February to participate in the finals. The Top two winners from the different zones of India will compete on 5th February in the Hyderabad campus of BITS Pilani to ascertain the winner of the Debate of Verba Maximus 2017.



Green School Award for DPS R.K.Puram in International Environment Conference ‘ENCON 2017’

The International Conference and Outreach Programme on ‘Environment & Ecology: Sustainability and Challenges’ was organised by Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram from 4th to 6th January 2017 at Sri Venkateswara College. The aim of this conference was to bring together the stakeholders who can help in painting a holistic picture of the Global Changes in Environment and Ecology.

DPS R.K.Puram won the Green School Award in ENCON 2017 for creating awareness among the students towards environmental issues through various activities.

Under the Green School Initiative, a number of competitions were organised and the winners were:
Environment Quiz: Third Prize: Aarav Mathur and Arunabh of VI H
Slogan Writing: First Prize : Tanvi Bothra XI A: Second Prize: Sukeerti XI B
Best out of Waste: First Prize: Aanya Trehan IX L

The third prize under ‘Young Innovative Environmentalist -Sustainable Technology’ was awarded to Prithvi Rana of XI-I. His model included ‘Jal Jaanch’ stick with an app ‘Pure Path’. The exhibits were judged by Professor Dr.Louise E .M. Vet, Director, Netherlands Institute of Ecology.
